Default New member seeking inspection for a new purchase

    Hi all,
I am new to this forum and happy to be a member. I am considering purchase of a 2011 Liberty in south Florida. I am looking for an inspector to check out the coach. My understanding is I may need a different inspector for the chassis and the house? I contacted Gil Johnson and he is not available to do this anymore. If anyone on the forum could recommend an inspector, I would be grateful.
    Thank you,

My brother lives in Florida and had this guy do an inspection for him on a class C he bought. He thought he was very good. Not sure if he does coaches but here is the info. Hope this helps.

It won’t include the house side but Prevost doe a DMI (detailed mechanical inspection). It is about a 6 hour process and very detailed. I was under the bus with the techs and got complete explanations as well as the final written information. If the seller will get bus to Prevost, it would be money well spent, but like all things Prevost not cheap.

Thank you Texas 40. I will check to see if there is a Prevost service center in Florida unless someone knows of one.
    Thank you for the reply.

Check Prevost Car.com, but I think it’s Winter Garden Fla.

    Hi group,
Another follow up question on this coach before I proceed with inspection. I really need help on this decision! The coach only has Cruiseair. I have read the many threads on the POG forum and it seems that getting them repaired is a challenge to say the least. So far, we love the coach but I am not mechanically inclined and live in New England where there are not many repair centers that are familiar with Prevost. Liberty states they have stopped using Cruiseair because of the difficulty with repairs. Cruiseair has been bought by Marine Air and then by Dometic and they are still in use in the yachting industry. I spoke to one of the marine Cruiseair repairman and he stated he would look at mine, but has never worked on a class A! I am retiring soon and will be traveling the country quite a bit, so I am very worried about repair on the road if needed.
Should I continue on with this coach or am I buying a major headache? I am committed to a Prevost for the drive and safety and love that Liberty is still in business and appears to be doing well.
Can roof air be installed on these coaches if I run into major problems? I assume the ducting is the issue.
I am also concerned that all of the Cruiseair threads are from 2007-2008 era. The one place mentioned for repair, AAP, in Milford,PA appears to be out of business.
Definitely would like the POG wisdom on this before I proceed. All comments and thoughts would be appealed.
    Thanks,
    Jerry

    Jerry:

Aqua-Air out of Ft. Lauderdale, FL has a brand new direct replacement for the CruisAir units. Their origin is Marine air conditioning for super yachts, so when they got into the replacement units for CruisAirs they had a large support/repair base already established through their marine side.
Aqua-Air is an advertiser here on Prevost-Stuff. I have there first unit in my coach that replaced my failing CruisAir, it has worked flawlessly and was a true drop in replacement.

Liberty is an awesome coach and many of the older vintage coaches (regardless of the converters) have the CurisAir’s in them that will eventually have to be replaced, don’t let the air conditioning be a deterrent if the coach is sound and meets your needs.

Jerry, I have 4 Crusairs and my coach is a 1995. The units were maintained throughout the years, so far no problems. Thanks Chuck for the info about Aqua-Air replacements. I would guess replacement would mean the touch pads would also have to be replaced along with any wiring cables.

Digressing a bit. It is important to run all your coach systems even when it is sitting. I open the garage door in the middle of the winter storage and run the engine, heat, AC road air and Crusairs which is also the heat pump, plumbing...everything for exercise. I learned the hard way to let things sit through the winter with no activity.

The important thing is to get a good coach inspection, as you are working on and get your hands on any maintenance records available.

Does your coach have road air? That would be the backup in case of a total failure of the Crusairs, except you have to run the engine.

It will not hurt to keep looking. Price is a biggie. I paid way more than I should have but, when I saw the maintenance records and things that were upgraded and done, the extra cost would have been paid for later on.

How many miles is on this rig?
