We tow a 4wd 2010 Silverado, it seems after being towed, the first few times we drive it we detect a burning smell( rubber?) No smell while being towed..only after we drive it, Any thoughts?

Granvil,
We've noticed the same thing with our Saturn Vue and haven't figured out what's causing it. Hope someone has an idea.

All of us experience the same thing.
The rubber that is worn from thousands of tires daily ends up on the road, and when we have a toad some of that is kicked up by the bus and ends up on top of the toad exhaust system where it sits as a fine film of dust.
As soon as we start the toad the exhaust heat burns that rubber dust and in doing that gives us a smell that will last a few miles of driving. It drove us nuts until we figured it out. I would guess that dust is getting on the bus exhaust also but it is being burned off as quickly as it collects.
Jon's right, its generally the crap kicked up from the road. Now if the smell doesn't go away, that's another story!

It is also the rubber from our very own bus tires.

Maybe Country Coach tires that are trying to get away from the chassis, but my Liberty has the extended tire life option and does not shed rubber.
thanks for the info..never considered that possibility.
