POG 9 - Country Coach Session -Topics

Having put on a seminar or two and having answered phone calls and PMs and emails I am fairly confident that if Miles puts on a seminar he should limit the discussion to an outline of what spare parts are available, what intellectual materials are available and a general overview of the salient points of the CC electronics and the coach systems. Specific questions after the presentation will fill the voids.

All of us, me included, may learn about the details of something, but we forget it before the sun goes down. It is only important if we are having problems with the system being taugh when it is being taught.

But what we retain and will always be able to use is the knowledge of what's avaialble and where to get the parts and information required.

Jim K., As you, I and other CC owners know, we are going to be bashed every time we mention a CC, so that discourages others from posting. Although most of the ribbing is done in fun, it has a negative impact on us and on the value of our coaches and eventually, all Prevosts. New POG members would be reluctant to buy a CC if they read all the negative comments about them on this forum. As CC owners, we know we have no more problems than any other conversion, and so far, I have never had a problem that wasn't easily solved with the help of other Prevost owners.

Even before CC went out of business, I never depended on them for technical advice or parts support, just like I never depended on Marathon for advice when I owned one. I called Marathon one time while I owned their conversion, and I had an equal number of problems with each conversion I've owned. If I needed to sell my CC today, I would not mention it on this forum, because I know I would get more negative comments than real support.

No, I am not thin skinned, I just know as CC owners we are not getting a fair shake when it comes to the negative comments on the forum. I also know I am certainly not by myself. I enjoy the kidding, and I think it makes the forum more fun and interesting. I just want everyone to realize that too much of a good thing has a negative impact on us as individuals and the value of all our Prevosts. We are just one of many owners of orphan coaches, and CC probably provided us with the best documentation of any conversion on the market.

I think most of us can stand the jokes and ribbing on a personal level. After all, thats how we know they love us. I think the part that becomes sensitive is negative feedback or bashing of what we own. No one wants to feel like the Bus they purchased is at the bottom of the barrel. Everyone wants to be proud of what they purchased. Especially when it comes to our toys.

The problem occurs when potential buyers and members do diligence using the POG Forum. Newcomers have no idea about the amount of compassion the Taco Twins have for this membership. Both of these guys would be there in a second to cover a fellow POG members back. Unfortunately, as human nature has it the part some members will remember is that they don't like Country Coaches. They wont know why, they will just remember that they made fun of them.

The teasing, joking and ribbing adds entertainment value. Many times I have read where new members were attracted to this Forum because of the camaraderie. Jerry and Mike are two of the original organizers. Without their contributions, both financial and participation, our Rallys would not be the success story they always turn out to be. I just think there is a difference between calling a Ramco Mirror a Crapco Mirror and a mans Bus a Dog.

Rest assured the jibes are all in fun. As a Liberty owner I would be disappointed if a CC owner did not pick on the glitz, the copper pipes, and the bordello decor.

But you are right in expressing concern and every owner and potential owner should recognize that there are no bad conversions. Regardless of whether the converter is still operational or long gone I doubt if there is a conversion out there with a problem that cannot be solved. In fact I think at this point due to Miles the link between question and answer is shorther than with any other conversion because if it is posted here or sent to Miles in an email or PM the documentation and thus the answer is at his fingertips.

What potential buyers have to recognize is each conversion has a "personality" or a signature feature and those of us who play on this forum will use that feature as a jumping off point for all of the teasing. Pick on my copper pipes and you can count on hearing about plastic shields. I'm fairly sure however nobody would pick on my OTR. Nope. Not a chance.

Having said that, I see no end to the teasing between owners. It's going to happen. When it stops that's when we need to get concerned.

I certainly appreciate all the excitement over the Country Coach Owners Seminar. I had no idea of the broad appeal of this seminar when I first began. I have asked Jim to ensure the meeting room will be large enough to accommodate not just Country Coach Owners but the entire POG membership as well as any of their guests, spouses, girl friends, and well behaved pets including sheep. In addition, Jim will provide a local Webcast on the campground in the event we run out of seating capacity. I feel comfortable now with the main topics for discussion although any additonal ideas will still be welcomed.

There is nothing better than a Prevost. Regardless of year, engine, converter, with or without stainless, or past owner. You are part of a very small fraternity of campers that LIFE IS GOOD. If Country Coach wasn't a great bus - trust me, the King of Bling, Fast Roger wouldn't be driving one. Period.

I don't want to speak for JDUB, but we come from the camp of anything worth doing is worth overdoing. Anyone who has attended any of our "events" at past Rallys, Oshkosh and other gatherings can testify that we go big. How often have you seen a 200 - 2 liter Diet Coke and Mentos show choreagraphed to the 1812 overture. Or the many cocktail parties hosted by the three amigo's.

This is not an apology. All those witty comments took a lot of work and were meant to amuse as there is a feeling among a number of POG members that this Forum has gotten a little staid. So we do what we do well - we make fun at the expense of others. But only in good fun. But for the new guys it doesn't matter what Prevo you buy, just buy one. Because they're all great and someone on this board (usually Jon) will find an answer for any question you might post to assist you in ownership. (You may still want to pass on the plastic shield).

I plan on being in the first row at Miles presentation.

I don't have any copper pipes (that corrode), took off my bug shield, (will bring it to Kerrville to auction off), but I do have plenty of interest in the CC seminar. I have all the docs and diagrams for my coach but still need lots of help some times understanding everything. Looking forward to the CC seminar. BTW what is the sheep thing all about????????????????????
