There are a few used American conversions for sale on the net. Granted, that the company is out of business now, but, my question is: were they well built? Any big "gotcha's" regarding them?

Fred,
American is out, but American Carriage is very well, still in business.
Here is the website : http://www.awebimage.com/ac/

I see that the web site is still active but I thought that they went out of business a couple of years ago.
American Carriage did go out of business in March 2008. Jerry and Judy who are POGGERS (look under Jerry and Judy on the Community page) and live in Oklahoma have a American Carriage XLII. You may want to drop them a private message and inquire. We did a quick tour of their bus in OKC and it was a really well done conversion on the inside.

Fred,
Two weeks ago there was a program on Travel Channel only about the American Carriage, that's way I was thinking that they are still in business. Looks like this was an old program.
My mistake, sorry,
Alek
The Mobile Mansions that was on the Travel Channel is from 2005. Mark Fechner and family made a very nice coach. Its too bad they have shut.

As I understand it. The owner of American Carriage now has a service center business in the same area.
