    Default Las Vegas area?

we are outside of searchlight, nv for a couple of weeks. our daughter is moving from UDEL to LA to start work the 1st week of july. i'm flying her in to las vegas and going to spend the week or so helping her find apartment . . . in the santa monica area.
we have a coupon for 5 free nights at outdoor resort in los vegas (whooo hooo) which will basically give her a vacation! then i need a place for a couple of weeks where i can leave bill and bus with verizon phone access. he doesn't care about any amenities except for the usual hook-ups - doesn't even care about tv. just a clear shot towards TX with the internet satellite. anyone know of such a place? the fewer people, the better - he wants to get some work done. i just need it to be driving distance via car to santa monica.
also - anyone with connections/experience with a car transportation co? how about a deadheaded truck coming west anytime between 6/23 and 7/5??? she only has the little civic and a bunch of boxes - no furniture to speak of (that she is taking now).
thanks all - i know someone will have some good info.
    happy memorial day - jody

In the Las Vegas area there are many RV parks similar to what you are looking for-I'd just look along bolder highway 1st-these are older parks-many of them clean and without lots of trees. There is also a new Camping World on Bolder highway as you come into the Las Vegas area-they might have some suggestions also.

I just had an automobile shipped from Coral Gables Fl. to Palm Springs via Gran Turismo @ 800-896-0008-That number answeres in Las Vegas although they may only offer enclosed auto transport (it was a new car so we wanted enclosed only-about double the price of open transport). If you google auto transport you'll get companies who will get you 10-12 quotes within 24hrs.

I also have some space in the Antelope Valley in SoCal where you could stop for as long as you wish but I only have 30amp power. Just email me if your interested.

If you want to be close to Santa Monica try Dockweiler Beach State park, it is right on the ocean under the LAX departures. For LA it is as isolated as you can get I think. If you can get a space there it might work for you. Maybe 15 minutes from Santa Monica.

Hello Bill & Jody. 65 feet is the Law although the FMCA was working at the State Level with this issue but it had more to do with towable vehicles.
Having said this; Santa Monica is 5 hours from Las Vegas.

    Jody & Bill,

Two sites with probably more than you want to read, but if you want your answers they are there.

I have found that many do not obey the law and don't get cought.

SOME DO GET COUGHT, AND PAY DEARLY!

I wouldn't hold it against you if you didn't go there. Cal. has so many people they will never know the difference

In Las Vegas, the KOA is at Circus Circus. If you want to travel to the California Border, there are several Casino's on Hwy 15. You can dry camp at their parking lots. If you want to go into California a little bit, Barstow has a KOA Park. If you want to venture into California a lot, there is a RV park in Ventura next to the Ocean and a Dry Camp State Park on the Ocean . Ventura is about 1 hour north of Santa Monica.

    Default Primm Valley RV Park

There is a very nice RV park at the Nevada/California line on I-15. The name is Primm Valley RV Resort 702-382-1212. From Las Vegas take the number 1 exit and turn left under the freeway, 200 yards on your right.

It will be exhaust manifold hot during the summer in this area. Last year in July I crossed the area at 2:00 AM to beat the heat, balmy 107, rose to 119 in the daytime.

Good cell service in the area. We dry camp in the casino lot sometimes.
