    Default Fire Extinguiser

What is the best extinguisher to carry in my coach?? I heard that if a dry power one is used that all electrical components will be ruined from the corrosive power. There used to be a foam extinguisher that worked well but it was taken off the market. What is everybody using now??
    Thanks

    Dave,

I carry the usual powdered extinguisher, a CO2 extinguisher and a fire blanket. One thing to keep in mind is that electrical fires will keep burning as long as there is still power to the component that has caught fire. Just putting it out with a fire extinguisher is no guarantee it will not continue to burn. A lesson to all! Make sure you know where your main electrical shut off is located. I have had fires erupt behind a dashboard and an engine component. First thing I did was disconnect the battery cable from the battery and then went on to put the burning wire insulation out. I am guessing all Prevost coaches have a main electrical shut off as mine does located near the engine compartment.
I have not heard of the powdered chemical ruining electrical components but it makes sense. I would guess the heat from a fire would melt the powder into a wicked mess.
