Power Tech 17.5 KW Generator replacement

In my 94 Liberty Elegant Lady the genset has had issues PRIOR to my purchasing it. I believe it is a 17.5 Power Tech BUT cannot find the SN tag only the filter numbers which go to many other thing. So my questions are: Has anyone replaced the complete unit? Where was it done,how much was the unit and installation? How long was the process? My shop and I believe that the crank is broke. The unit is old and was not maintained as I prefer to maintain my equipment so I am looking at replacing the entire unit? Any thoughts

If you’re interested in rebuilding the Kubota V1902b engine - I can get you a dealer that can get all the parts from Japan . They are a sleeved engine that is built like a brick outhouse. Let me know. If you do replace it with a new one I’d be very interested in buying your complete old unit (engine and generator - complete). I want first dibs!!! lol.

If it comes down to it O will replace the entire unit but will got up to a 20KW. If I don't need the old ones for core charges we will have that conversation!

I am curious why you would move up to a 20kW unit. I doubt that any of the wiring / electrical equipment in the bus is rated for that much power ....

Eddie, the engine serial number is printed on the block in raised letters & numbers on the fuel pump side of the block. If I were going to replace the engine I would also replace the generator/stater side of the unit. My engine is fine but the electric generator side of the unit failed. The brass stater inside cracked and the unit failed to make power. I replaced it with a Stamford 20K and I have had no issues. While you are at it replace all the coolant lines and the exhaust line.

I’m just trying to get first dibs on Nightwinds failed 17.5kw for parts and possibly a rebuild. I was able to just have my exciter stator rewound and replace the voltage regulator the stator fried when it died. I did replace all my hoses while I was in there, thank Goodness my 19yr was there to help! I just have to replace a weeping #4 output valve o-ring and crush washer (will do all 4 as PM). I will tear back in to the generator end to replace bearings as PM - as long as bearings don’t fail and drop rotor onto stators, I can keep rewinding.

No Name Sorry but I had my genset tech who works on my house genset take a look at mine and we are replacing water pump, thermostat hoses belts, radiator cap and radiator. He had it running and it runs great just too hot for our comfort so it's being gone thru as we speak.
