Good video thx David. My interest in these is probabaly a little oddball to most (get to that in a minute). Current tires on my bus are Michelin XZA Energy 315's with date codes of 2011/2012. I have zero historical info on these tires as far as underinflation etc. They look almost perfect to me. I have never replaced or even considered replacing tires that look this good on anything I've ever owned. I'm obviously ignorant of coaches - been a first time owner now for barely over a year. Overall consensus (with an exception or two) seems to be NO WAY should I run these over 10 yrs. I'm not a paranoid person (more of a "don't fix it if it ain't broke" mentality), but a believer in maintenance for sure.
So another factor comes into play. I want to put current coach tires on some 22.5 Alcoas bought for a 379 Pete I have. Currently it doesn't go anywhere or do anything, and has 24.5's with recapped drives and older steers that look it. So huge improvement (I do need to source two more 315 take offs). Based on experience with automotive tires, most tire shops won't touch anything over 10 yrs - so, might be wise to get this swap done prior to. And have new coach rubber also.
Now as to Retroband. I may be a complete fool, but with those installed on steers, I don't think I'd be too concerned when nearing 10 yrs on tires I purchased new with accompanying history IF they looked as good as these do now. Of course a lot can happen in 10 years (or even less), but still have to live and plan accordingly.
