    Default Water Pump

I am curious if anyone has every replaced the Headhunter Mach 5 water pump with a shallow well type pump? I was looking at some specs and you can get about the same flow (Mach 20GPM, Well 16GPM) for about $1k less. I don't need a new pump now, but was just curious if anyone has ever looked into this or not. The shallow well was an inline continuous flow type that runs on 110V.

If there is room it is worth a try. I spent 2500.00 on a Groco water pump for my Liberty just to have a direct replacement. but the first one lasted 20 years.

    James, it will work...but.

You will need an expansion tank and well pump pressure switch.

What you won't have is the self protection features of the HH pump. Of course, that may not be a big deal.

Don't overlook Grundfos pumps that are very similar to HH but at half the price. Maybe the Grundfos pricing is why HH will sell you a replacement pump for half off.
