    Chris,

I stayed at Jones RV park in LaGrange, GA. It is on the north side of Atlanta. It is mostly monthly renters, but the overnight sites are pull thru and they are narrow. My 50 amp was broken so I used the 50 amp in the site nextdoor.

I will look for another RV park whenever we are going that way again.

I will be watching this thread hoping to find a better place on the north side of Atlanta.

Red Top Mountain State Park is great! We really enjoyed it . Big sites also. Tom & Nancy Chilcote (Truk) lives close by there.

Stone Mountain Park is nice and probably 20 miles from downtown Atlanta. Red Top Mountain is another good option although a little farther outside the city. We also park at the GA Dome Marshalling Yard for $20 and dry camp periodically because we can walk to downtown since we do not pull a vehicle.

    Sandy,

I looked up Red Top Mountain State Park and it only shows sites that are 40' deep. Have you been in the park with the new bus? We need a campground on the North side of Atlanta when we travel to Highlands, NC. I am just looking for a quick in/out overnighter with good 50 amp power.

Thanks Michael, but I am looking for an RV park right off of I-985 on the north side of Atlanta. I have found one that I think will be perfect; I only need a quick overnight spot. River Forks RV park is 6 miles off of I-985. I will try it next time we go to Highlands, NC.

    Thanks for your input!

You are right Tuga. We were in our 40ft at the time, but my cousin was in a 45ft along with us. The section we were in was listed as a Family/Event section. Haven't been there now in approx. 3 years.

    Thumbs up

Stone Mountain is a top notch park. Easy in and out and very nice sites. Get one facing the lake.
Be sure to seek out the Carillon and listen to the music. There is a conference center there and a restaurant as well as an amusement park of sorts. You may take the cable car to the top of the "STONE" or walk it.

All areas are removed from each other and do not interfere with a quiet contemplative atmosphere in the rv park.
