    Default Gen battery

My gen wouldn't start after 3 try's yesterday. Checked the battery, 12.4 volts. So I took the battery to batteries plus, they tested it and found the cranking amps at 70. The list on the battery showed 575 cranking amps. I didn't know a battery could show good volts and still not start! Learned something new! Rick

On a related note, my one frustration with the Marathon design is that the generator battery is not supported by any charging system or jump start switch like the chassis and house batteries. It only charges when the generator is running. I have therefore had to replace this battery or jump it from my truck on several occasions.

    Towson,

If the generator is not exercised enough to keep the battery charged just install a small smart charger, like a Battery Tender.

Mine has a small solar panel attached to the generator battery. It was enough to keep my first battery good for about 8 years.
