Well based on what it takes to fire up a diesel I would be replacing with the 1000 CCA batteries. When that piston gets pushed up and compresses the air and fuel we want the big bang. For the little difference in $ it's worth it.

NAPA usually runs specials on batteries and you have a nation wide warranty.

Greg..I just replaced mine, and the best price ect. was at NAPA. I had always insisted on Interstates for the engine, but found they are no longer made in the USA, but in Mexico. If I recall, they were 950's, plus they had a longer warranty than Interstate, and can be replaced at any NAPA store of which they are many.
    Just my thoughts.

Speaking of Napa .... are you aware that an engine belt (Gates) purchased at Napa is warrantied? I just took two in (problems resolved) and got 2 new ones for FREE!

I don't know if that price is good or bad in your part of the country. Sometimes independent stores will work with you on the 4 batteries you need. Call another NAPA store to compare. We are talking group 31 battery ?

Stock Prevost until around '07 ( ? ) was Delco 1150, 3/8th threaded anode at 950 CCA, group 31 as mentioned above. After that they changed to Volvo batts ande I don't know those numbers off hand. Be careful here and make a drawing / take a picture / wire tie the cables together before pulling the old batts. This bank is wired series - parallel and each cable MUST return to the correct position. Also watch for the the 12 v, 24 v, and ground wires to the EQ as it is easy to loose those in the shuffle, and watch out for your back since it will be an awkward dead lift into the battery tray. There should be a Prevost diagram decal on the inside of the side engine door to help.

In winter of 2009 Prevost Jacksonville installed Interstates for us. No problems so far, doing fine.
