Default POG X best route from I-10 ??

Ok, all you Texans, how about a recommendation on the best route from west bound I-10 to La Hacienda. My map software shows 2 different routes.

    # 1. around south side of Austin
    I-10 exit 632 to Hwy 90
Hwy 90 to Hwy 183 North
Hwy 183 to Burleson Rd west (Hwy 290 /71)
take Hwy 71 North (Ranch Road 620S)

    # 2 Around north side of Austin
in Houston, take north side 810 loop
take exit 13B to hwy 290 West
take hwy 130 (toll rd?) north to hwy 45 West (toll rd??)
Hwy 45 turns into Farm Road 620N

Anybody have a suggestion on which route is better?
    OR
A different route that would be better??

    Thanks
    Andre

    Andre,

The best / quickest way to the campground from Houston on I-10 is as follows: Take 1-10 West from Houston for approximately 70 miles; take exit 695 (State Hwy 71) toward Austin; stay on Hwy 71 through Austin. Be sure to follow Hwy 71 where it splits from US Hwy 290 on the south side of Austin (it will be a right turn). Hwy 71 will take you to the turn onto Ranch Road or Farm Road 620.

Ok , now that is settled. Would it be passable for me to use US 290 coming from the west heading east from New Mexico off Interstate 10 with A 45' coach pulling a 25' trailer?

    Don,

Yes, that is perfectly fine. Just exit I-10 at Junction and come straight east to Oak Hill on the west side of Austin. Once you pass Fredericksburg, you will be on 4 lane highway all the way to Oak Hill. You will intersect Highway 71 there and turn left. Head up to the intersection with RR 620 and turn right.

I should say exit I-10 east of Junction at exit 477, and then follow US-290 east to Austin..
