There are so many potential sources it is impossible to predict where the leak is coming from. Dropping the pan and pressurizing the system seems to be the best way to start.

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a small crack in the head between two valves and it was letting coolant into the cylinder and ultimately into the pan so even pulling the pan may not reveal all the potential sources but it should help with most of the search.

thanks, your comments are appreciated... i'll take donations for a good cause. My glass is always half full. we will be dropping he pan this weekend and pressurize the cooling system. Hopefully it will reveal the issue. I'll keep everyone posted.
