Starband VSAT system

Does anyone have a Starband system - either fixed or mobile? How does it work and is it easy to get service? I have a Direcway fixed system which suffers from rain fade where we live on the west coast. So far this year we are off more than we are on and Direcway is not particularly helpful.

We have used Direct TV for some time and seem to be less and less helpful; indeed they oversell the capabilities of the Internet service.

We currently have an old Moto Sat system which I am going to mail to Jon, along with the two receivers. I think we should all mail all of our old parts to Jon, actually.

Anyway, with internet going down to a palm or laptop size, no need for a big dish there, and the mushrooms getting pretty cheap that may be a replacement. In the meantime, we push up the antenna and use the booster.

If that doesn't work, we talk to each other.

I have also picked up the Verizon card for my laptop and am sticking with the Direct TV for the sat. It seems to work well at this point. I don't know if that helps.

Why mail that collection of old parts?

If it will run why not drive it up here.
