Question Where/How to Mount a Laptop Computer?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to mount a small laptop/netbook computer in easy range of the driver's seat in my 2000 H3. What have others done?

I've seen a custom tray that fits in the cupholder on the driver's right side, but don't have any details on that.

I have seen those units in semi tractors.

Possibly they are available in the places truckers buy their accessories to trick out their ride, or a truckers CB shop.

google is your friend on this one. Simply google "laptop vehicle mount", and you'll get dozens of hits. Here's the first one on the list, which looks promising.

    griefer,

I have used a product made by Jotto Desk in a previous life. It was very well built. Numerous attachments could be purchased for various mount requirements.

I used the system during a short stint doing insurance adjusting work. It worked for me.

Here's a link to a jotto desk installed in a Horizon.

    Al,

This may make others cringe, but I didn't want to attach anything permanent to the dashboard or surrounding area (we call it the Erion effect). So I use a couple of these:

    Found at most truckstops.

I've had my macbook pro on them with no issues to date.

The dash on my Marathon H3 is pretty flat, so it works well. Next trip to the bus barn I'll snap a photo for you.

    Use at your own risk.

I'll take that as a compliment.
