    Default Engine Block Heater S60

I noticed during my trip to the higher climates of Colorado that my electrical engine block heater was not working.

Has anyone else tackled repair or replacement this device? Is the heater inserted into the water jacket or attached to the block? Is any fused or circuit breakers located on the device? When I check the continuity of the block heater from the wiring located on the rear of the engine, I read open circuit.

    Any ideas appreciated.

    Hector,

If my memory is holding up, the block heater screws into the block and then the AC cord either plugs or screws into the heater. I did one many years ago on a Cummins and had a hell of time unscrewing the heater due to rust and corrosion. Your going to lose a lot of antifreeze in the process unless you drain the block. I doubt the element is bad, but anything is possible.

On my Marathon, CC and Liberty, the block heater power is a home run right from the AC breaker. On the Marathon and CC, I used that power source to run the Guest Charger and just unplugged the heater at the receptacle, so I don't think you have any type of circuit protection in-line unless someone added something.
