    Question 12V in a 24V Coach

I need 12v @ 22a in the drivers dash area.

Is there a source close to that area?

    Jim,

I'm powering a couple of 1400 watt Alpine amps from the bulkhead in the compartment below the drivers seat - I'll get a picture of my installation for you in the morning.

    Jim,

Do you have a cigarette lighter? The wire for the lighter should be 12V and is probably a higher amperage than average.

    Default Chasis battery

Hi Jim. you would need to have 10 guage circuit for 22 amps. Your chasis lights are 12 volts, Radio, etc are 12 volts.

That's a heavy load for 12V. I am assuming you want this on the house system so I would seriously consider picking it up on the 12V bus bar on the LH sidewall in the electric compartment and using an appropriate size circuit breaker run the dedicated wire to where you need it in the dash area.

I would not pick up the power off any other circuit. As Gary points out you need at least 10 ga. wire, and to be of the same quality level of the rest of the wiring it needs to be stranded and of the same insulation quality of the rest of the coach wiring.

There may also be a 12V bus in the chassis electric box up front, (I can't remember) and if there is it will make routing to the dash area easier, but if the 22 amp device is used "key off" you will be drawing down the chassis batteries.

Thanks Guys, I located a 12v post in the drivers electrical compartment and will go off that.
