    Default Generator blow-by

I changed the oil in the Kohler generator before my last trip and ran it 79 hours last week.I don't know if this is normal for others but I have a small amount of blow-by that is on the floor below the generator,I had not noticed this before.I burned .85 of a gallon per hour average, and the weather was 65-90 degrees during the week.I don't think that anything is wrong but just checking if others notice the same small amount of blow-by as I have. The oil level on the stick might have moved down 1/16-1/8 of an inch so consumption I think is OK.Even though Joe does not like it I am using Rotella 15-50.

I've not seen it before, but I will give mine a good test the week of 7/27 when I intend to run it near continuously for 8 days at Oshkosh.

    Did you mean 15W40?

Jon,I wonder if the newer gen's have a higher thermostat than the older ones for emission reasons, mine seems to open at about 180 degrees.

    Jack,

My Marathon would put a little oil out the breather, so I made up a simple catch can out of a coke can and that kept the floor clean. Mine never used any oil and I only use Rotella because it's been proven by Acme Hydro-Carbons to be better than Delvac. Mine is old school compared to yours, but it runs dead on 180.

That's where my generator runs also. The Kubota on my old coach would run around 160.

Thanks Truk and Jon for the responses,I also thought that I would make a catch can for the breather tube.
