Tool Man - the "L" in the model number means "left hand suction" as the compressor will work in any rotation configuration.

Darrell - I wanted to change to 134a, but got the shock treatment. Since mine doesn't have Barrier Hoses (red/green instead of black) they claim the conversion won't work. The hose conversion from Prevost is 759.34, but the bad part is 40 - 50 hours labor. Prevost says they have to access the system mid coach to change out hoses, but my understanding was there was solid cooper pipes from front to rear with only the front and rear hoses needing changed.

I still have homework to do on this hose issue.

WOW ! Looks like you are DEEP into research on this project ! Perhaps you should find the hose manufacture, go directly to them and determine if the composition will support 134.

Dale - Your guys came in at $350.00 plus shipping, more than Prevost. I found it locally at Fleet Pride for $227.00. There is also a standard Freightliner part number and most have it in stock. This is the same compressor that my 2000 CC used for 134a.

According to CCI the Manufacturer, the Neoprene Seal was an update dating back in the late 90's, so anything after that has the new improved seal.

Tom, You should have paid the $350. The finish on it is probably more shiny than on the one from Prevost. The company was a few hundred dollars cheaper on the TM31HD that I need than most other places. They are trying to make up for it on the one you need.

Tom, If you're going to stay with the R12 make sure the oil in the new compressor is mineral oil. When I installed the one you have now I had to drain the Ester Oil (134A) and refill it with mineral oil. There should be a sticker on the compressor re the type of oil it contains.

Will do Brian, thanks.... I also learned the mineral oil has to be freeze mineral oil, whatever that is. CCI said not to put plain mineral oil in the compressor. Do you remember where you got the oil?

Mineral oil for refrigeration is available at any reefer supply house. Grainger carries it too.
