    Default Dash A/C Compressor

Any suggestions where to buy a dash A/C compressor other than Prevost? The part number below is for 134A, but can be used with R-12 after changing the oil from Ester to Mineral.

    CCI/York
    Model ER 210L
    Part # 25149

    Prevost part # 950393 - 295.55

Tom, Just saw the post. I think that is a pretty good price but I will get-on-it right away and let you know what my contacts say.

Tom, My Napa contact said the " L " designates left hand suction. They have them but only in Rebuilt Units. Our cost is 103.39. They said they would like to have the old unit to match up to be sure. For the application on a Bus I don't know how comfortable I would feel about a Rebuilt. The problem the York Compressors had was failure at high RPM's. We used to keep them in stock because we sold so many of them. Nowdays they are harder to find. I have watched the pulley and clutch on mine and thought it turned slower than an Automotive application so perhaps a Rebuilt would be O.K.

Tom, If you want to go the Rebuilt route, here is one on eBay from a very reliable source. Total cost including shipping and tax would be $131.

Tom, If you want a new unit, send an email to the place below with the part #, and they will respond with a price for your compressor. They are significantly cheaper than other sources I have found for my OTR compressor.

Tool Man - Thanks, I think I'll stick with a new one rather than rebuilt. The one I have was bought by Brian in 05 from Prevost, so it really didn't last long, even though it was new. Maybe about 3 years is all you can expect out of these compressors.

Dale - Appreciate the lead, will call them tomorrow.

    Greg,

It's leaking on the back side of the compressor and I assume it's a seal problem. The one I have that Brian bought from Prevost was suppose to be the improved version, but who knows. If yours is still working after all these years, you must have a good one!

TOM......I bought and installed a new compressor from Prevost. After 8 cans of 12oz freeon, I had a leak on the back side of the compressor from the overflow pressure release port. I has a restriction in the evaporator located on the driver side under the power steering resevoir. Replaced the evaporator , converted from R-12 to 134a. It has cooled very well for the past year.

Tom, maybe Prevost meant it would improve their sales volume on that compressor.....
