If you look carefully at the pulleys in your engine compartment, you may well find that one or more of them are adjustable pulleys. That means that you can adjust them to avoid belt wear, increase power transmission and bearing wear: Make sure that the pulleys are lined up perfectly.

If you need to adjust the pulleys:

The way to identify such pulleys is to look and see if there are 3 small bolts and 3 holes. Take out the bolts, replace them (retap if necessary) and insert into the vacant holes. Then, break the 'bind' at the center of the pulley to loosen. Tighten the three bolts to the appropriate place. Withdraw the little bolts and then put them into the original holes.

Different years chassis and conversions will have different configurations and number of pulleys.

A quick way to check pulley alignment is to put some chalk marks on the side of yer belts and check for wear.

Highly recommended.
