Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel

I'm seriously looking into a Diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee (2007/8) as a toad. What experiences has anyone had with this vehicle? I'm even considering trading my 2001 BMW M5 for one if anybody is interested. Might even consider a diesel Smart car.

We have friends who have a 2007 Jeep Cherokee diesel and LOVE it! If they keep their speeds under 65 on the hwy, the jeep is getting 25mpg. 20-21 around town.
Unfortunately, we, as Americans, are unable to buy a diesel Smart Car. They are available in Canada, but we can't import them. It just so happens, I talked with our Smart Car dealer yesterday and asked about diesel power.
They said no diesel , but there maybe a electric version coming. Bummer, I would by a diesel Smart yesterday if I was able.
