    Default Flying J

    Hey POGgers,

I stopped for fuel at Flying J in Beach, ND on Thursday. The price was $3.97.9. That was the first fuel under $4.00 that I have purchased since March 14th of this year. Yeah!!

But here is the kicker. According to the woman at the fuel desk, beginning Monday, Sept. 1, Flying J will no longer recognize the RV Real Value Club card for a discount at the TRUCK island. Only at the RV island. For those of you unfamiliar with this card, it allowes RV owners to use it, get the cash price for fuel (which is 8 or 9 cents per gallon less), pay with a credit card (and have 30 days to pay your credit card bill.) What a great deal!!! Apparently all that ends Monday. You can still get the cash price at the RV island with the card, but as many of you know, not all RV islands are bus friendly. Some are barely 5th wheel friendly, let alone a bus. And most have the slow delivery handles. So pumping 130 gallons or more of fuel will take a while.

Is this a good business decision??

BTW--I have purchased fuel 14 times in 2008. 9 of those purchases have been at Flying J.

    Makin' our way to Spearfish,

    Ken

Did she tell you about the Tour / Bus card that FlyingJ has available? It's suppose to provide the discounts of the RV card plus a few more.... including fueling at the truck pumps out back. I sent for one, I'll let you know how it works. It's just another piece of plastic to lug around

    Orren and others,

I checked out the Flying J website this morning. Here's the deal. Flying J has gone into the credit card business. In reading on the site under "recent announcements", you can still use a certain master card at the truck island and get the cash price. The credit card is issued by Transportation Alliance Bank, TAB. TAB is owned by Flying J. It is a no fee card, and you can apply on line, or pick up an app. at the fuel store.

You don't need no stinkin' gas card.

This is why you have the safe under your bed.

I second that...a wad of dead presidents will get you every discount available. What amazes me is that when I pull out cash at Flying J it takes 2 people to figure out how to take it, make sure it is real, give me a reciept etc.

I filled up today at the Flying J outside of Houston. I used the truck lanes because I couldn't fit in the RV lanes. Paid with my AMEX and used by RV card. I expected to see only a 1 cent discount as the flyer mentioned. However, to my surprise I received the 9 cent credit upcharge discount. I am guessing that the new policy hasn't been fully implemented as of Sept 1.

Lew here......On my build sheet it says there is a safe in the bus. I guess I had better look further if a wad like that is in there.

    No such safe, dammit.

Our converter built in some secret compartments into the cabinets that are for sure without a doubt safer than that safe without even having locks on them.

    Are we alone here?

My 1987 Liberty had a safe which was well hidden, but it also had a hidden compartment.

With all the nooks and crannies both upstairs and down there are lots of places to hide stuff on any coach, but why?
