    Default Barrett-Jackson @ Scottsdale, Arizona

I took some photos today. There are 400-500 vehicles if not more, so this is but a few.

    Gary,

Thanks for posting the pics. Lots of nice buggies. Are you looking for something or just kicking tires?

The older Corvettes look sweet as did the Shelby Cobra. I'm not much or a Cord / Auburn / Dusenberg kind of guy.

This year I am just looking. I enjoy the carnival atmosphere and taking it all in. I do like the Cobra's, Jags, and Corvettes but I have no money nor Garage space . It will be interesting to see how these cars sell this year with the economy slowing down. I will post some more pics tomorrow.
They were auctioning old Gas Station signs and pumps today. Some original small signs ,(2' x 2') , were selling for $1800.00 and up. Vintage Gas Station pumps and other Lube type equipment are being sold by Vendors for $3500.00 to $6500.00 refinished.

Carguy there also. Everyone with an interest in cars should come to Scottsdale for car week. I am selling the following cars at BJ. It is quite a feeling pulling your car up on the stage at a no reserve auction having no idea what it will sell for. I have been bringing my cars here for a number of years to sell. It is still an undescribable experience. Watch a grown man sweat on live TV on speed channel!

Lot 960 – 1964 GTO 2 door hardtop - National winner. Will sell Friday, January 18, between 4:15 and 5:15 PM EST http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli..._LotNumber=960

    Lot 961 – 1968 Formula S Plymouth Barracuda – National Winner – Will sell Friday, January 18, between 4:30 and 5:30 PM EST http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli..._LotNumber=961

Lot 1254 – 1970 Chevelle LS6 hardtop – 19,000 actual miles – 1 of only 2 Chevelles that have ever received a perfect 1500 out of 1500 point score in the coveted diamond certification for originality. Default Nice

CarGuy: That is certainly an impressive list. They have to be the creme de le crop with the specs they carry. Engines, trannies, miles, condition- even colors. Wow that is better than Disney World to a guy like me. Beautiful and impressive collection you have.

I would certainly have a tight one on this deal. The anticipation has to have you breathing hard.

How do the BJ results compare to some of the more regional collector auctions ? Is there a hard number a person can expect to hit over the given history? 20 percent to 30, 40 percent more than any other auction?

Good Luck- It is kinda like the harder you work the luckier you get.

Very nice . The 54 Corvette is a beauty. That car is definitely one of a kind. It looks brand new.

I'm just thinking that you could buy a 54 vette or a 97-99 xlv for about the same amount.

10 years down the road....your vette brings $500,000 and your bus brings $100,000

Default Great Pictures bring back great memories!

Gary and CarGuy, thanks very much for the picture posts. My 1st new car was identical (except color) to the GTO CG is selling on Friday. I think I paid somewhere in the vicinity of 3k for the car in 1964. I looked at a similar one at Hot August Nights here in Reno about 6-7 years ago and the guy was asking about 30k. I thought that was a little much but I'll bet I'm wrong. It will be real interesting to see what yours brings. Hope you great POGers are having a lot of fun. Good Luck and Happy Selling!

I posted some additional photos today. They have so many different types of vendors here, you can buy a Marathon or Featherlite, Log Cabin, Vintage Mahogeny power boat, Jet, Helicopter, airplane, jewelry, Tommy Bahama shirts, Jacuzzi, Vacation getaway, Tires, Rims, and oh yes even a car.

I'm not sticking around to see the high rollers bidding at the end of the week but I understand there is a nightly show on TV summarizing the high points of each day.
    Signing off from Westworld. Gary
