It will be exhaust manifold hot during the summer in this area. Last year in July I crossed the area at 2:00 AM to beat the heat, balmy 107, rose to 119 in the daytime.

Good cell service in the area. We dry camp in the casino lot sometimes.
ouch - although i must say the heat here is MUCH cooler than the 90+degrees in wash dc area with 90%humidity! A/C is a good thing!!!!!
    thanks for all the info!

It seems to be that the area of enforcement of the 65 rule is a short stretch of road on I-10 near Blythe. According to what I've heard, the 65 limit cannot be enforced on roads built with federal funds, but that short section in Blythe was build with CA funds.

That being said, coming from Vegas you would enter CA on I-15, not I-10. I think you'll find the weather MUCH more enjoyable in CA. I could put you up for 2 days in front of my house (50A electric), but you'd have to move on after that.

As mentioned, there are many places to stay in CA, depending upon how close you want to be to things.

Bill forgot to tell you guys that the real reason he can't venture into Ca is he is in the Witness Protection Program and Ca is off limits.

Sorry Bill, I had to give it to them straight.

Don't put yourself on the google that JDUB has done. There will surely be an airstrike.

Las Vegas: I dry camped at The Hard Rock Hotel for 2 or 3 nights and not so much as a knock on the door. They had ample parking outside their main parking garage for the rig. Quite enough and we made $1,000 at the black jack tables to boot.

Circus Circus lot is very boring and no shade. About 5 miles from the strip is a super nice lot with super nice pools (adult and kids pools), on site restaurant and only $15 cab ride to the strip if you want. Forget the name. A small chain of the upper class RV Camps but doesn't come to mind off the bat. Go there instead of Cirucs Circus KOA if you want to plug in. If you want to dry camp, Hard Rock Hotel.

For Santa Monica area, there is a killer RV park in Malibu which is about 15 miles north of Santa Monica or so. Nice cliff views right over the ocean but the managers bug me each day if I didn't pay the rent right at 12 noon. If you search posts by me you'll find a photos I posted of the spot we had which was on the point and the best view. You can hear the ocean but not the traffic from this place.

The park some people refer to near LAX and just south of Santa Monica has a 37' limit to it. I showed up with a 45'. If you have a 40' who knows ? I got the polite cold shoulder and was able to roll in to make a u-turn and dump my tanks is all.

    Good luck.
