    Default tile in the shower

What do you all do to keep the tile and grout in the shower clean and in good shape. Previous owner said he just wiped it down with the towel after use. I have had good luck previously with the spray stuff one uses after the shower but it was not a tiled shower stall.

Jeez! This is sounding like harry home owner stuff.

The first thing we would do is clean it well and reapply a couple of coats of grout and tile sealer. Its very easy to apply, like wiping on water with a sponge, and it really seems to help in those damp environments.

Most areas we stop and fill up with water, the water is hard with lots of mineral deposits. My filter system reduces some of the residue but it builds up on the shower walls and glass . I use a good glass cleaner for theshower glass and then use some of the 'Wipe Out' product . It does a good job on all the metal and glass. It should work on the tile as well.

    Jim,

If it is regular ceramic tile, I would make sure the grout has a sealant and hopefully it was installed with a mildew reducer. A simple spray bottle of white vinegar and water cleans well and makes the tile shine. Here is a link with some "recipes".

I use it on many items in my home including the hardwood floors. It is also an approved "green" product and I am for anything that helps the environment and does a good job. You will have a vinegar smell but it subsides quickly. Simple, inexpensive and works--my kind of product!

Our water is always soft as we use a TravelSoft unit to condition our water.

We keep a spray bottle of Tilex in the shower and when we're done we give the walls and glass door a couple of shots.

We then ALWAYS squeegee the glass door to remove any moisture.
