Taking the kids to the great mouse-money trap in orlando. I understand the Fort Wilderness rv park is friendly enough for rigs our size. Looking for a place to stay at the halfway point. Thinking about http://www.pensacolarvpark.com/ based on the rvparks.com review.
Anything I need to know about either place besides bring lots of money to feed the Mouse?

A little further down the interstate is Eagles Landing RV park in Holt, FL. $25/night Very nice park.
Easy on/off interstate at exit 45. All 100' pull thrus 35' wide grassy/gravel sites. Good overnight place to stop.

I've stayed at http://www.avalonlandingrvpark.com/ earlier this year. Easy on/off the I-95. A few sites that are big enough for us. We also stayed at http://koa.com/campgrounds/milton/ earlier this year. Easy on/off I-95, plenty of room for your rig. We stayed in an "executive site". It was a great level site. I picked this one over the first.
I would consider http://www.bellaterrarvresort.com/ if you wanted to do more than spend the night. I haven't been there, but want to.
Depending on your schedule, keep Alliance Coach http://www.alliancecoach.com/ in mind. It's a good cheap place for the night or service. The CG is really there for service customers, but you can stay there if they have room.

I know this is not what you asked about but when you get to the check-in at Fort Wilderness, leave the coach and ask to be driven to the spot they assigned to you. The "front office" has no clue what 45 feet of Prevost means! We like staying there but twice we had to be relocated because we would not have been able to get into our assigned spots! So, you want to look first! Great place to stay, reasonably priced, very clean, mostly quiet, lots of green space and, of course, close to all of what Mickey has got to offer!

Definitely upgrade to the premium sites. We have done Ft. Wilderness in the bus six times. The premium sites are much nicer than the others. It is a big hit with the kids. I would seriously consider taking I-49 from Shreveport to Baton Rouge and avoid the back roads across Mississippi. For the trip, there is a nice rest area just the other side of Pensacola (around mile 30) that we generally pull into and run the generator and get a few hours to sleep (a little more than halfway from Houston). If you want a hookup send Dan Smith (Dans) a PM. He has a spot just off of I-10 in Mississippi (I think around Diamond Head) that has a 50 amp plug.

I would agree with Loc on taking La 49 out of Shrevport. The loop off of I-20 around to La 49 is kind of rough but its only a few miles and once on 49 its all good. I've also taken the route you show thru Mississippi, I believe its also highway 49(Mississippi 49) and while its an ok route the other is better.
use an agent for reservations,no site worries and no check-in;she can provide golf cart,a must have,and turn you on to all the amentities and the ins and outs of disney camping.
Can you tell of of a good agent?

Thanks all. We can definitely switch to LA49 as there isn't much mileage difference ... Is there a premium loop that you folks would recommend over the others? The kids are less of a priority here than easy of getting in and out of, privacy and quiet.

Doug, are you looking for a RV Park for your halfway mark stay or are you just as satisfied with a Rest Area? Around the Mobile area....On I-10 west of Mobile there are nice rest area stops.I can also tell you that there is a nice Rest Area stop in MS on I-10 at exit 13 (Stennis NASA Exit) Bay St.Louis Area . It has individual RV spots and a very nice & easy pull thru dump area. It is just west of Dan Smith's place on I-10. The rest areas around Pensacola are very nice also. Large area. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at any of these I have told you about.
Good Luck at Disney Money World....You couldn't pay me to go there now. Been there done that.

The highway you want to take out of Shreveport is I-49 south not LA 49.
The exit from I-20 will read I-49 south to Alexandria, LA.

We have stayed in Loops 300, 400, 500 and 800. We like 500 the best. I would say no to the 300 loop because it is better suited to small trailers and motorhomes. I had to have a shoehorn and Crisco to get the bus into the site. If you are taking a dog these will be your likely choices. If no dog, I personally like the 700 loop because it is most open and closest to the boat to the Magic Kingdom followed by the 600 loop because of its proximity to the pool and outdoor movie. We have always run our generator in the rest areas in Mississippi and Florida and have never had a problem. Both Mississippi and Florida have nightime security at the rest areas.

We are parked in Marthaville LA tonight ... I-49 out of Shreveport was a little rough at the beginning and smooth as glass about 10 minutes south of Shreveport. 3132 around Shreveport was pretty dicey .. I bottomed out my IRSI seat several times as we hit bumps, sink holes, concrete separations, tank traps, etc. I'd hate to have done that in a plastic rv as there would be a long trail of pieces like some kind of Winnebago branded breadcrumbs behind me.
