Level Low - revisit- HELP!

In reading the other threads I can answer a couple questions up front. My left/right and front all raise and lower, no problem. The auto position just stopped working yesterday.

In what I've read...would seem since all the 3 positions work with no problem, there's likely something else with the auto spot. Any ideas? I did see a note from Jon about the center box with the pendulum. I'm assuming that's where the auto level gets it's sense of level. I can check there...but any other ideas?

Rod you have 4 electric solonoids in the steering bay. I would start by checking each of those for continuity. The end terminals are held on with small screws. Remove them and it will expose 3 end terminals, the two that are parralell should have no resistance. Put an ohm meter on them.

ROD.........Joe is right on. I had the same problem and Prevost Nashville replaced one of the air valves that Joe is talking about. Don't remember which one. I could raise the bus with three position switches but not the drive switch.

To recap, you can raise and lower all three control points (left rear, right rear, and front) of your coach manually, but not with you auto level system.

Your solenoids appear to be functioning correctly. If the auto portion does not function, then something has malfunctioned within the auto level system. Check the easy things first, fuse, loose wires, etc.

My coach is a Country Coach conversion, so I am sure the electronics that does the leveling is different than yours. I do not know the brand, but my system could be Country Coach specific. I do have the level sensor mounted in the center of the coach. The module is located in the second bay back, in the center of the coach. Country Coach uses this area as air suction for the generator.

My electronics (circuit board) is located above the drivers chair, behind the television (It is a PIB to get to.).

THanks Hector...that is correct. I'm also going to take a look at that control box. I'm thinking it could be as simple as the toggle switch needing cleaned or replaced.

That air manifold on the rear wall in the drivers bay has 4 solonoids that oppororate air valves. 3 of them are for the 3 corners and that 4th is what needs to engage to get you back to normal "auto ride height".

It is the second or third one in the set and it is on the rear wall of that compartment.

That is where you look first. Could be the solonoid could be the valve itself but if the valve goes bad it will probably leak air.

Hector how have you come to the conclusion that all those solonoids are functioning correctly without testing them?

Rod, this may sound dumb, but are you sure the coach is unlevel enough for the auto level to kick in? How do you normally level the coach? I would dump all the bags and then turn the ignition switch on, start the engine and let the coach come up to drive height. Then, get in an unlevel spot and with the engine still running, hit the auto level rocker. In other words, try all the simple stuff first. Good luck, you'll find it but at least you can still get level manually until you do.

Hector and Ted, when Rod refered to "auto position" he was refering to normal driving position on that selector.

He has no auto leveling on the bus.

If he DID have an auto system and the bus would not seek normal ride height on its own I would still start at that air manifold and solonoids.

OK, Joe, I understand now. That is a real pain in the butt for sure. It's something simple to fix but not simple to find. I would still get in there and work the fool out of the system a time or two and see what turns up. Hang in there Rod, you are fixin to learn some stuff about your bus.

Ok...after a quick (very quick) visit to Dr. Joes place...he's fixed me right up, and taught me how to change these Norgren valves..and why!

Actually, I'm not 100% sure that my Auto Level even works. Seems that I do a better job of leveling up by doing so manually, or perhaps I haven't been in a spot that was out of level enough to really make a difference.

And, yeah, Dr. Joe is a Norgren surgery specialist :D

He's performed many a Norgrenectomy :eek:

He is a FONT of knowledge....and I'm told that's good.
