Ain't it amazing how the Government can spend our money and the trivial ways they can justify doing so? Just think of all the people in this great country who could be help for the price of two buses!
If he joins I'm out. He has already ruined the greatest organization (The U.S government) in the world. However, he might put in a few R.V. sites on the White House grounds.....would be handy for visiting the Smithsonian.
As much as I can agree with this I think for the sake of POG we should keep this non-political. Off line and PM's are OK, but I saw another forum disintegrate because political and religious discussions were allowed. It polarized a group of people that otherwise previously got along real well.
But I think Pete is on to something. Why cannot there be dedicated parking sites for RVs at major attractions? I'm not sure camping overnight should be allowed, but it would be very convenient for folks with dogs or special dietary needs or who just want a place to pee with9ut sharing a toilet with 10,000 of their closest friends.
I think the reason JDUB came up with the Facebook idea was for comments like these where we could "air our views" outside of the official POG site without messing with the "lame brains" !!

Why is it black? Seems like the worst scheme possible for it to be useful.
And nary a mention of whether it has OTR to keep it cool! I don't think those roof airs are going to do it.
It does not have OTR. It has five roof airs which should keep it cool if they are all running. Maybe Mark or John can remember but I did not think it had a slide. It is an entertainer shell so if it has a slide it would be only one and only about 11 feet long and thus not require much AC for the additional space.
I see five bumps on the roof, but the middle one looks rounder, like a satellite.
If it only cost 1.1 million, how could it have a slide? Don't remember seeing one.
With all the emphasis on going "green", I don't see why this bus wouldn't have worked.
All it needs is a little armor....:cool:Attachment 8584

Check the vid and count all the vehicles. Couple of thoughts come to mind -
1.) all the state troopers in MN are in tow.....
2.) what is the carbon footprint of that deal?
An American President in a Canadian Built bus... Paid for by US taxpayer dollars. (this is where I need to bite my lip and keep my American taxpaying mouth shut).
I don't think it had slide(s), but can't say for sure. I would think not as they would want to be able to get going instantly, not wait for the slide to run in first.
Our 2001 Country Coach XL 45 2 slider could be moved around with the slides out. Maybe the XLII slide interlock/parking brake mechanism could be optionalized as to allow this coach to get on the run while the slides retract??? 'Course, they would have to leave a windwo open while the slides retract to prevent ears popping.:)
I suppose they could rig an override for it. I just can't see them really needing it. I am sure they are not going to overnight in it unless they are moving to another stop.
The article said that they bought two of them at $1.1M each. That cannot be accurate. It probably has a million dollars worth of electronics on board. Couple that with the armor and gas-tight seals (chemical attack proofing), I suspect the cost is much higher. Since its "classified" it may be years before we learn the truth, if ever.
I read somwhere that that was the price as delivered, and that the SS would be putting in much more equipment that they would not elaborate on because of security.
I'm wondering who did the interior conversion. The electronics, security, armor, etc woud all have tohave been done at the same time I would think. So, who did the work?
Howard Cain has leased an older Marathon H3 which we saw at one of his rallies in Atlanta.
"Greyhound One" apparently was purchased through Hemphill Brothers Coach.

From the pictures it looks like the bus has OTR air.
I bet he did not consult with Al Gore on this one! Oh and the reason the VW bus would not work is you can't put 22" wheels under it. The 1.1 mil for the bus I am sure is just the shell cause we all know what they cost. He owns Chrysler, why didn't he get one of those American mad ones?

Pretty cool Orren, I need to work for the Secret Service. I could drive that thing!!!
That is NOT the coach we (John, Mark and I) saw in Nashville because it does have OTR. The one being serviced in Nashville may be one of the two, but that one had only roof airs and five of them if my brain remembers correctly.
