We keep ours on auto and operating all the time.
At Kerrville, Ben from CoachWorx mentioned that for climates that changed from cool overnight to warm days, you can push both the Cool and Heat buttons at the same time and the unit will decide which to provide as needed. Neat; my home unit isn't that smart!
