Air leak from mystery component

Lately we noticed that the top valve in the five valve manifold in the steering bay was constantly leaking air. Today, we successfully replaced the leaking valve, but could still hear air escaping in the general vicinity. We listened closely and traced the source of the leak to a component in the steering bay that I’m not familiar with. I’ve attached pictures in hopes that someone on POG can help me by identifying the leaking component and advising me on how to fix it. Please see the attached pictures and reply if you can help.

I showed these to Jon Wehrenberg and he seems to think that it is may be a component unique to Vantare conversions, but could not identify it or guess at its function. If Jon doesn't know what it is, I'm not sure anyone will - but I've got to try! :rolleyes:

It's a Clippard Minimatic pneumatic valve. It works like a Norgren valve. Here's where to find them: http://clippard.com/store/display.as...=6002&levels=1

I've never seen them, and I don't know what they do on your bus. If you want to try and fix it, drain your air down, then try taking the two screws on the bottom of the valve out, remove the valve, get the part number off of it, clean any crud on it off, then reinstall it and see if it still leaks. If it leaks you have a part number and can then get a new one - depending on the part number they run between $20 and $50. There's a manifold underneath that the valves plug into - that may be cracked and leaking, or the airlines going in could leak as well - the manifold might look like this - http://www.clippard.com/store/displa...asp?sku=CM-036

Steve - this is great information! Thank you so much for sharing! As for their function on my bus, Rob Russell called me earlier today and thinks that the valves may be to extend and retract my step cover. We'll be using your suggestions the very next time we go out to the bus to see if we can "fix" the existing valves. If not, it's nice to know that we have a source for a replacement!

We ordered a replacement valve directly from Clippard for less than $50, replaced the leaking valve, and voila! - no more leaking from there! Thanks again, Steve, for this information! Ya just gotta love POG! :D
