Hey Lew!

Now this is similar to our first truck in Bristol, ME. Ours was a little cooler as the PTO on the front was made of solid brass. That allowed us to have the newbies make it sparkle on work details.
Of course, the real shortcoming was (and this was in the late 1980's) that the canvas hoses were all marked: "BOSTON FD - 1913"
I pointed this out to the Chief who said, "They've worked well up until now!"

At one time in the past, my hometown of Elmira NY. was known as the firetruck MFG capital of the world. Both American LaFrance and Ward LaFrance were ther and now we have nothing. I don't think your picture was a LaFrance.

If you can wait for the download, THIS is good stuff.

Lew,
Back in my early trucking days I was hauling steel and machinery and delivered a load of axles & wheels to Elmira for the firetrucks. I believe I picked them up in IL or IN somewhere. My hometown was Brockport, NY (just west of Rochester). Just like Elmira, lots of industry just folded up their tents and/or left the frozen north for more tax friendly states.
