SMX II DISCO LIGHTS

SMX II is suddenly starting a rapid flashing (all buttons, all LEDs).Compressor is still running at last set point and cooling but touching any buttons on the SMX II gives no response. Turn the unit off at the breaker, let it set for a few minutes, then turn it back on and all works fine for sometimes a hour or two and sometimes for a day or two.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

85% chance it needs a new thermostat, 14% chance it needs a new power logic board, 1% chance the T-stat cable is not making a good connection on the power logic module. Swap the thermostat with your other thermostat. Pry the cover from the bottom of the thermostat. when it unsnaps, slide it up and you will find 4 philips head screws.

When you say thermostat do you mean the thermistor tub that is near the condenser that sences the temp?

I mean the actual SMX t-stat that has the lights"dancing"
