2001 XLII Living Room Slide leak

We own a 2001 XLII Marathon conversion that has developed a major roof leak in the front slide.
The issue is at the front edge of the slide where the roof panel meets the outer edge and is glued, it has come loose and a big section has popped up and allows a large amount of water in.
We took it to Prevost in Nashville and they gave me an estimate of $4,700.00 to patch it, $14,000.00 to replace the complete roof panel plus the cost of labor to remove the slide interior!
Question one:
Has anyone else experienced this and how did you fix it?
Question two:
Does anyone know the slide construction and if you can dill and install shallow rivets with sealant to fix the problem?

This looks similar to a problem that happened to some early slides. The fix was to replace the roof of the slide with a heavier sheet of aluminum and rivet it.

As you can see they didn't quote the interior removal. At least part of the interior has to be removed. If you have the willingness, indoor location, and ability the job isn't too bad.

You should be able to source a new skin locally if you want to take in the job.

Thanks Gil, Do you know in you can rivet the roof panel across the front edge?
Is there anything to watch for as far as drilling into underneath the roof?

I'm pretty sure the outer edge (long side) is not riveted when they install the thicker skin. You certainly don't want a row of rivets under the slide seal. You can probably see that there's only rivets on the outer ends (short sides) in the parts manual.

Drilling should not be an issue. The slide framework is aluminum.
