I just wanted to say thanks to those that used my name on your TSD fuel card application. I don't know who you are, but I did receive a nice discount on my fuel purchase. Thanks 👍

Gill I think a lot of truckers have figured this out. Seems like all the participating loves I use r noticeably busier. This fuel card will save me couple thousand yearly. Almost too easy.

Just took a peek at fuel out towards my next direction. The loves on 10 in Lake Charles is 2.05 using this program a .59 cent discount off the advertised price. Anybody not taking advantage of this program is really missing the boat. Gill there is almost no way to repay u for the savings thanks again.
I really enjoy not having to go in and get in line that's very nice.
Barrel a crude went under 50 bucks today too. Lookin for that first 1.99

The greatest savings are at Loves stations. The discount typically even beats the nearby smaller stations by at least 25 cents a gallon.

I just took a look ahead for a trip I'm on and later on this evening I'm going to be fueling up in Magee Mississippi for a dollar ninety-five cents a gallon with this fuel program. Ain't life grand.

I've been using the TSD program for a while now and can't say enough good about it. As said above, if you're not using it, you're really missing out.

From TDS today... As of the end of the week, Pilot is officially retracting their discounts from our program due to their relationship with Good Sams. Good Sams has an exclusive contract with Pilot which prevents them from giving any discounts to the RV community through any other means. Every other discount is still in place.

Tom, given Pilot/Flying J discounts were no where near Loves discounts, this is good to know, but should be a non issue with those checking for the best price.
When I saw this posted by TDS I wondered why it was not both Flying J and Pilot.
Thanks for posting,
Joe Camper

The biggest discounts and most prevalent locations r definatly the Loves. If u r frequently off the beaten trail or dont have convenient loves the benefit of this program will be limited.
This is a completely free program you got to figure they can pull the plug for any reason at any time.

Gil, the way I understand it is at Pilot you’ll pay full tilt retail vs just the cash price.

Dan,
I think Tom was just looking for a stir. The best discounts, by far, have been Loves followed by TA. I doubt anyone was getting fuel at Pilot or Flying J using the TDS card. If they are going forward, they can fall back on their RV programs and discounts given by some credit cards.

Here's a copy of an email that i just sent to Good Sam.
Good morning,
I am an RV person (Prevost XLV Country Coach) and have recently gotten the news that the fuel discount program that I use has been cancelled with Pilot and Flying J due to a contract issue with the Good Sam Club. This is to inform you that I will be severing all ties with Camping World and the Good Sam Club. Not only am I avoiding doing business with you, I will use whatever influence that I might have to influence others to avoid CW and GSC also. Have a nice day.

Just so everyone knows, Flying J/ Pilot didn't know TDS was reselling fuel to RVs. They have an exclusive RV program with Good Sam's Club. They had no choice other than terminate TDS.
The discounts were always better at Loves and TA than Flying J/Pilot. No big loss.

Bad News! Loves has pretty much discontinued their steep discounts that were nearly a buck off the street price in some locations. Hopefully, this is temporary. Sadly I just checked the EFS App and the Loves stations near me are not even listed!
Somewhat Good News! TA/Petro is now offering good discounts. The one nearest me is just over 80 cents off the pump price.

Did you get the latest newsletter from them Gill I think I know what happened people Like Us that were jumping on board it was very confusing for everybody at the pump with all the questions that they ask you when you stick the card in there and I think there was so many complaints from Love's from people like us going in there not being able to figure out how to do it they got in trouble but that's just a guess based on the news letter they sent out and they addressed that issue in the newsletter.

Joe, I think they should have established a purchase minimum to keep the low volume pickups pulling a trailer out of the program.

I agree with this. . they indicated as such with the - do not contact the fuel supplier as you are a customer of TSD and not them. But most end user customers dont comprehend this. .

I my boating days, a marina in Port Judith, RI charged $5 a gallon for first 100 Gallons ... if you purchased more than a 100 gallons then all gallons were at that time $2.25. Got rid of the whistle blowers quick!

I use the program last week and put 92 gallons in for $123.
The advertised price was 244 and I paid like a dollar 33 or some crazy number. What's astonishing to me is I'll always transfer money into the account that I'm buying fuel line before I actually put the fuel in the truck but sometimes it's a couple of days before they take their money not everybody is honest they're going to get screwed doing that too.
if I got to go to the TA or the Flying J instead of Love's I don't care.

Filled up yesterday at Loves in Comfort Texas. 108 gallons and store receipt was $226.36. Email from TSD was $211.16. Better than nothing, but not the huge discounts that we got a month ago on the way to Florida.

Came in today via email.
Good evening. As most of you know, our EFS Price Lcocator App has been unavailable for several days now. After much direct communication with the EFS Tech Team, we can tell you that they have an entire department working to get the system back up and running as soon as possible. Right now, EFS expects to have the issue resolved by Sunday the 24th. In the meantime, our best discounts are currently at TA and Petro locations.*
On a much brighter note, through our partnership with EFS Fleet Services and WEX, TSD will soon be rolling out an expansion to the discount network resulting in more discounts at more locations. Many of the retail chains you have been requesting will now be included in our discount program. I can't wait to be able to show you all of them!
When EFS notifies us that the app is fully functioning again, we will pass that update on to you. Our TSD Offices will be closed on Monday the 25th in observance of Memorial Day.
Thank you for your continued support and patience. *

The card is still working but it's a crapshoot at what the discount will be you can't find out in advance but I did use the card yesterday and even though the price locater was still in op it allowed me to fuel up at the pump just as you always would normally.

The price locator we use on the app doesn't affect the use of the card. Although a bit of a pain, you can pull down pricing by brand from their web site.
The good news is the price locator was back up a few minutes ago.

Ed try it again I just checked in mine worked
Petro in Gary 2.55 on the sign 1.93 after discount.
Anybody who's stopping at a Pilot or a ta I would suggest having a good sniff of what's coming out of the nozzle before you put too much in your tank they just cost me at least eight grand maybe 10. I bought 135 gallons of what I thought was diesel fuel in Indiana on rt 30 and the general consensus at caterpillar from everybody that was there to sniff the sample that they pulled out of my tank was it was more gasoline than diesel.
16455
I thought I got lucky because just by chance I was on my way to Caterpillar to have a head gasket that started leaking repaired and they got it all out of the tank before I went too far but I did drive about a hundred fifty miles with that gasoline before I got to cat. The invoice States no damage but that's because that invoice was when I went and picked it up with the new head gasket 2 days after I got it back again I lost an exhaust valve seat on number one jug and I know it wasn't anything that cat did cuz they never had to undress the head they checked the deck and it was flat all they did was clean it and put it back on with the new head gasket and a couple other things. When they pull the head off if there's any damage to number one jug er liner I'll end up with an full blown in-frame. If the good Lord's willing I'll put a few hundred thousand miles on it before I turn in the towel but it would have been nice to do it with 1 swing not 2. That's The Story of My Life everything comes the hard way that's why I'm such a son of a bitch to get along with.
Thank God it happened at the house recently I've been as far off as almost San Antonio Texas and to the east I was all the way over to Newport News Virginia thank God it happened here.

That was the wrong invoice and that last post. here's the one that I had to make separate so I could send it over to TA and pilot I called the corporate offices in Knoxville and they said we're sorry we don't show any records of any incorrect drops and nobody else complained but will be happy to send you a $250 fuel credit if that'll make you feel better. Now I got to go fill the cookie jar back up again real quick cuz it's going to cost me probably another eight at cat to fix the damage from the dropped exhaust valve seat a new heads 3200 the turbos probably shot cuz all the bits gets sucked through it that's 1200 if I need a jug a piston ect ect it'll be another eight grand before they're done with me I'm sure. My poor baby, I've poisoned her.

The reverse occasionally happens with private airplanes where AvGas is contaminated with jet fuel.
End result is that whoever screwed it up buys new engines for the airplanes involved.
The test for aviation fuel is pour some fuel on a white cloth and make sure it fully evaporates. Anyone know of diesel equivalent test?
PS. If your bill is that big, get a lawyer involved and that $250.00 credit offer will be multiplied...
Joe Camper
06-09-2020, 08:19 PM
I like the question Fred but I think it's safe just sniffing it because the crap that I got a sample of it's unmistakably gasoline and Diesel smells nothing like it but if there is a task yeah I'd be interested in knowing what it is I'll never put any in any tank anymore without looking at it first I can guarantee you that.
ELucast
10-23-2020, 05:25 PM
Get some on your fingers and rub them together. You should be able to detect the lubricants in diesel and it won't evaporate. While your fingers are coated in fuel get a Bic and give it a flick. If it's gas you're now a torch. If it's diesel you should burn your finger with the lighter trying to get it to ignite. They also have a distinctively different oder.

Is the TDS Fuel Program still "the thing" and is it the only "thing" or are there multiple cards we should be carrying?

Terry, there are other choices. None come close to this program for savings at truck stops. Others are 3-6 cents. Also, some credit cards offer their own discount.

Just to put an exclamation point on it, in my current trip (From AZ to FL to TN and back to AZ) the card / app have helped me not fill for over $2.50/gal. You can do the math on that. Hopefully Gil is getting some love from the tank filling.
