Getting ready to replace my house batteries and trying to figure out just what I need.I currently have 4 8d gel batteries that are 14 years old and need replaced.none of my heat or air run through my inverter. 110 lights microwave and tv's is about it and my 12v lights and refrigerator. I'm not big into dry camping and if we do it's a couple of days and we're using generator for heat or a.c.and to run water heater. Thanks in advance for your input.

Doug u describe my cenerio to a t.

Ive got a 24v 2800 w inverter with 2 8d batteries. I can run the fridge and tv along with the intermittent loads u describe for 10hr before needing a charge.

You can do the math on your loads and cycle times. If your battery demands are only for a few hours and maybe a pot of coffee or short use of the microwave you can likely be happy with just 2 8Ds. I assume you have a single inverter of less than 2500 watts.

With 2 Trace 4024s you have plenty of AC load potential. I would stick with your 4 battery arrangement which is almost my setup. I have 4 4D batteries.
