It's a good idea to look at your batteries occasionally. Here's a generator battery out of sight behind a fender. It was date coded 2014. That terminal has broken away from the case and is about a 1/4" above it's expected position.
Given battery or battery cable/connection failures can lead to fires, don't wait until the batteries are due to be replaced before looking at them. This is why I'm not a fan of those that locate batteries in hard to access locations. Fender located batteries are not hard to access, but I've seen batteries buried midship or covered with a dozen screws that are hard to get to.
