Replace Heart Freedom 25 Inverter

Fellow POGers, I believe that I have a failed Heart Freedom 25 inverter. What seems to be the recommended replacement for this model?

An almost direct replacement is a Freedom 458. Even the remote can likely be reused. You can find them as refurbished or used units on eBay.

I would recommend you go to pure sine wave units from Magnum or Outback. Magnum has a very good generator auto start module too that is much better than the voltage based units of yesteryear.

Your bus is almost 20yr old now Tony. If it were mine I'd ask myself what it's future is and if u plan on keeping it . If so I'd get 2 newer modern replacements. Sell the other 2 as a set or for spares.

Gil, do you know if the Heartlink 2000 remote panels will control/operate the Freedom 458's or will this require a new control system?

I'm not sure about a Heart Link remote. I know some CC'S had the Link 1000 remote.

The Link intelligent remotes are supposed to work. Although they will appear to work, they may go to bulk charge from float when they shouldn't. The basic remote for the 458 is less than $200 and can use the same telephone wire and will fit in the original location with the same bolt pattern. The good news is the Link 1000 brings over $100 on eBay.

Tony... It seems that most people switch the Hearts out with the Magnums in their Liberty's.

I think weather I was going to keep the bus or not I'd want a matched pair of inverters and any potential buyer would be looking for the same.

They always switch them both out too... never just one of them.

Thanks for all of the feedback here. Due to help from some of you it appears that I need to go a little deeper and am going to start with house and chassis battery replacement. Additionally, I need to understand how to check the Vanner equalizer. Thoughts appreciated.

Tony checking the vanner is quite simple. If it is working correctly the 12 volt lug will be exactly half the voltage as the 24v lug. Do u have 1 or 2 of them? is it 75 amp or 100?

If u r not planing on repairing the damaged inverter do not discard it.
