We are now in hurricane season and the chance for major storms is even greater than normal for many of us. Most of us probably don't unplug our bus every time it comes a storm even if we are in an RV park, but it is really a good idea to do so. In a park all the wiring is connected (and there may be miles of it), and it acts as one big antenna just waiting to direct that lightening to the closest conductor.

Our surge protectors offer some protection but would not prevent damage from a direct lightening hit. I read several different articles from RV experts and all agree we would be much better off to disconnect from shore power during storms. I personally have not been doing this, but I think I will start. It would be no fun having the electronics in the bus "fried".
