Need to replace my air filter on 1990 Detroit Diesel 92 Silver. Anybody know where I can purchase this filter and what the part number would be?
Thanks,
Tully

I guess every 4 years sounds about right. Can't believe you haven't change it sooner?

Tully, Many owners change them when they appear dirty instead of by time or miles. I've heard the engine is more efficient once the filter has a little use than when it is new. Normally, most large NAPAs have or can get the filter.

NAPA also has periodic sales on all of their filters that usually amount to 50%. The NAPA Part # is 6623. You also might find the Replacement Parts Checklist in the articles section useful. Here's a link to it. (I hope it works).

Thanks. I had a partner who was Responsible for the bus maintenance. Needless to say i am now taking over all the maintenance...he has been 86'd.

If u haven't removed it and blown it out with air once this is absolutely acceptable. Used to do it with my Peterbuilt all the time. The restriction gauge would drop back to under 5 on full throttle and the the 3406 Cat under the hood went 1,100,000 without ever having the valve covers off short of injectors at 500,000. Im coming back to Chicago Halloween week.

I just order a new one from Prevost about once every 2 years or have them replace when I have a Service.

I have mine replaced every other service which is every 10,000 miles. Just my opinion but its cheap insurance on our investment that in my mind only appreciates!!!

Sid, that's 3 a year for you. He's the only man I know who painted the front of his bus before he sold it.

Yep,and the new owner really likes it. Oh by the way Bernie do you have 2 little pipes coming out of the back of your bus? One is for the generator and the other one for the Aqua Hot/Webasco. Well if you do your going to love how I redone mine!!!!!
P.S. just trying to get one up on ya

Yes I do. What did you do? Put 4 inchers on there and run them to the roof?

Nope , going to tie them in to one pipe and come out the passenger side in the same style as the main exhaust The tip is going to be in the same shape just a little smaller and in chrome not stainless

Ah, good idea. Just make sure you use a double walled pipe so your chrome doesn't fade from heat buddy.
