Looks like the first attempt to auction this bus did not work - I was told today that this Prevost Liberty H3-45 Elegant Lady WILL BE SOLD this time around...............

Is this the coach that belonged to the woman who was treasurer of Dixon, ILL? Embezzled $35 million from the city.

Yes it is.

jack14r
09-12-2012, 05:14 AM
Her name is Rita Crundwell and she actually took $53,000,000 from Dixon,IL,in the first auction they required a minimum bid of $1,000,000 and no one bid that much, there was one bid and apparently that person cannot read as it was stated that any bid must be at least $1,000,000.

Jack what do you think this coach will bring?? I thinking abouy 750,000

jack14r
09-12-2012, 10:53 AM
I would bet that it has not been plugged in and needs house batteries as well as the tires have aged out,I do know that Liberty serviced it and it was picked up from Liberty 1 day before she was arrested so at that time it was all working(in the photos the air filter has the date on it).Sid,I don't think that you are wrong but I have seen auctions go both ways and only time will tell.I know that Liberty tries to make sure that their coaches maintain their value and I am sure that if it looks cheap that they will step up and bid, they had a very low mileage(16,000) 2009 that they were asking 1,250,000 now we both know that asking is not the real price but they did sell that one in about a month.I have heard that Rita was real rough on her coaches as they were just another piece of machinery that she didn't really pay for,I also know that she went to some events where she ran the generator for more than a week at a time and I even heard that the coach would require a fuel truck to top it off at one horse show and that she ran the gen for 2-3 weeks continuous,I would bet that the oil and filters were rarely changed.

This person's story is in the current "Texas Monthly" and she has literally several hundred trophies. Her entire set up is being auctioned to recover funds alledgedly stolen. She has one of the largest collections of high end Quarter Horses ever assembled. Time will tell. Pres

My bet is $400k and that wholesalers will be the prime bidders. I love this coach but enough to make a cash purchase.

It seems to me, that the bank's believe since their item is a "PREVOST" they have gold mines on their hands and all buyers/bidders will have glazed-over eyes, as the previous auction of this coach needing bids over a million showed. We have looked at Bank-Owned Coaches before, those like this one will need to be bought right. Meaning I agree with Gil and Repoer, anything over 400K will be too much.

Most owners don't use their's enough.

Jack, do yourself a favor and send in your $5K refundable bidders deposit and bid. You might be surprised.

It was only at $150K last night. Of course some will wait until the end to bid.

jack14r
09-12-2012, 07:55 PM
Actually I went on line and registered and wanted to bid and found out that they will take a credit card for the deposit and I decided that I can wait till near the end to bid and I will bid if it is less than 500.Corey to answer your question they have an obligation to provide a clear title, this would be a US Marshall problem and not the buyers problem.Lets all guess at the final price!!!

If there were an inspection day, I would send someone out there to do a close inspection. Check coolant and oils, tires, batterry dates if possible.
So, my guess is $715,000.00. Its still a Liberty.

Gil_J
09-12-2012, 09:48 PM
I registered and received an email stating a requirement for the $5K to be sent via cashiers check. The email also stated once received I would be given an appointment if I chose to conduct an inspection. The only credit card reference I saw was the one where they deduct a dollar as a method of proving you are who you say you are.

There was a question about registering - here is an answer I got:

"5K cashier’s check or wire transfer as a pre-bid deposit. When registering we ask for a CC only to verify identity, not as a form of payment. Should someone like to inspect the Prevost, after their pre-bid deposit has been received they may schedule one. "

Joshua Scully

If there are any questions please let me know & I will try to get them to the right person.

Thanks

You may be right... a lot of times bidding will almost cease in the last day or so waiting for everyone else to bid it up... best kept secret is to decide your max highest bid and bid in the last 30 seconds.. I have won over 1000 ebay auctions both big and small that way... best to stay out of the bidding war and bid your absolute max amount in the last few seconds... that way you don't get caught up in the "moment" !!! Why bid up something you really want?

Good luck to anyone who is bidding it's a gorgeous bus.

Friday was a rv auction at Adesa Auction in Ocala a 1995 prevost xl went with an if for 40,000 than a 2003 prevost xl sold for 100,000 Why are prices droping so ?

jack14r

Lots of reasons,I would ask questions like mileage, entertainer coach, condition, converter, obvious damage, etc. It is really apparent that the orphan coaches are worth much less than the coaches that were converted by companies that are still in business, that being said there are real values in some of the orphan coaches.

jack14r
09-23-2012, 01:46 PM
Larry, you are right about Ebay auctions but this one has a soft close and each time there is a bid in the last 5 minutes the end gets extended by an additional 5 minutes, sort of like a live auction where everyone has another chance,I will be watching the end as it might take several hours after noon on Tuesday.

Seabyrd
09-23-2012, 02:05 PM
Oh... that's right... in that case I would still wait as long as possible... I hate those soft closes they can go on forever !!!
It may not end up being as good a buy as most of us first thought... under the present circumstances of the coach I don't think I would pay much more than the bidding is already... it is a gorgeous coach and a Liberty... the more it brings the better it is for all of us.
