Having been at Liberty in North Chicago and looking for things to do on my way West, I just couldn't resist Wisconsin. Found many interesting and historical sites and wonderful people. The best was found in Kohler,WI, which is adjacent to Sheboygan.
The tour is of the Kohler factory including Pottery,Brass, Foundry and Enamel Shop. Reservations required.
1-920-457-3699.
Kohler is the largest plumbing manufacturer and is family owned and run since 1850, they own too many other co's. to mention and are almost 100% self sufficient. At this location there are presently about 3000 employees and you will see everything they do, very impressive. The tour took about 4hrs.
Afterwards have lunch or dinner at any one of the three restaurants at their American Club Hotel/Spa.
"also great Golf"
Walking tour from the Design Center and Museum at 8:30am, Monday through Friday, free.
Dry Camp in the Walmart, large separate lot at 3711 South Taylor Sheboygan,WI 53081 only 15min. from Kohler. Call the manager 1-920-459-9300, he likes it that way.
Cameras not allowed on tour. A few pics of the grounds though.9420942194229419
