Or is there some trick to installing the halogen bulbs with the two pins in the base? Always a struggle to get them inserted

I have the same problem. I have found that using some DC 4 lubricant makes it easier to install them. Also, if one is particularly difficult I unscrew the fixture from the ceiling and pop the back off. This allows me to hold the plastic clip with one hand and insert the bulb with the other hand.

They are not easy to install, but opening up the back of the fixture makes it a little easier.:)

I started the job and gave up ! Pins wouldn't go in the holes without bending and breaking, cards with led's were to big, etc. I'm happy with the original bulbs !

Try walking the pins in. meaning side to side, one pin , then the other, a little at a time.

Having just replaced all bulbs with the LED disks I too was struggling. After a few, okay quite a few, I discovered that they go in easist when the bulb is horizontal. This means the end of the bulb without the pins must be pushed up against the reflector in the fixture. I was bending pins and trying to wiggle them in before discovering the receptacle isn't very tolerant to the pins being inserted at even the slightest angle.

I replaced all the original halogen bulbs with the flat disk 2-pin LEDs. Once I realized this required some patience, after having lost 3 LEDs due to a broken off pin, a loss of about $30, I slowed down and all was well. I can confirm that the disk must be almost horizontal for the pins to slide into the holes. Having LEDs makes a huge difference and is worth the effort!
