I changed a Webasto system booster pump last week. Drained off about 5 gallons of coolant. Recovered 4+ put it back in the sysem. Went to start up and the engine runs for a minute and shuts down. "Check engine" light comes on as does "stop engine".

Recently had the coolant level sensor replaced on last drive because it would trip check engine light on dash when Jakes are in by my local Detroit shop.

My coach is an 87 XL, 8V92 DDEC 1 system.

Here are the codes I get:

#13 - Coolant level sensor - Hi
#43 - Low Coolant level 7 Sec.

My question:

I suspect the coolant sensor in the resivoir is the culprit. But where can I find the sensor which shuts the engine down? Is it the same sensor?

I was going to start a vacation trip thursday........Cant do it if the bus wont run.

It sounds like you have a air pocket in your coolant line. There are three sensors which will shut down your engine.
1. cooland level sensor 2. Engine oil pressure sensor 3. Coolant, air, oil temp

I hope that helps.

Also, you can contact Prevost directly thru their 800 number.

Thanks for the lead. Turns out checked the coolant level sensor wiring, sure enough, dirty and loose connectlion. I just had a Detroit Service shop work on on this sensor 40 miles ago. Cleaned and tightened, back in business.

This is one of the sensors which will shut you down.
