This happened on the way home the other day. I noticed the odometer was flashing 8.8.8.8.8.8. and then the mileage, but was not counting up. Later after I stopped at a dump station, the speedo Needle wasn't moving until after about five miles when it finally made it to my running speed, based on the tach and cruise control which were both functioning. I called Prevost and they said it sounded like the cpu in the VDO speedo head had failed. I can go with that but before I order a new speedo any other ideas? Does the speedo get it's signal from the transmission?
Thanks.

Speedo signal depends on the year of the coach. Prior to 95 (guess on date) it came off opposing magnets on the front right rim, after that it comes off opposing magnets on the transmission tail shaft and housing. In both cases it runs through the DDEC.

These can be very tricky and aggravating, especially the earlier ones.

I would recommend Speedy Speedometer in Southern California. They know everything and are familiar with Prevost from the old Torrance branch.

Good luck,
