2001 HWH Slideout Not Retracting.

Well, got all uhooked, cleaned, shined & ready to go....slideouts won`t retract? Tech came out & thus far discovered power not getting to hydraulic motor, no blown fuses in control box relay board, breakers all reset & HWH touch pad won`t go out of travel mode. Cycled parking break several times & no success. Any ideas guys ?

Tks for the Website link. Will have to dig deeper into their on line tech course later. After talking with Donnie in Sanford he`s pointing us toward the parking break switch & a couple electric solenoids located in bay under drivers seat which lockout the retract motor if parking break is not applied and keeping it in travel mode. A schematic is needed which Donnie will look at tomorrow afternoon. Would like to get a copy of that because this being Vantare conversion with a joint effort from several shops it`s almost impossible to get support from any one person.

I have HWH slides as well, never experienced what you have going on but did encounter a bad switch and got good help/ support from HWH . Please let us know what this turns out to be in the event we ever have the same problem.

I don't have a dog in this fight but EVERYBODY who has a slide regardless of who manufactured it, Rogue, Valid, HWH, Prevost, etc. needs to get and keep a copy of the schematics, both pneumatic and electrical so not if, but when a problem occurs information is available.

You will never have a problem in your garage or at a service center. You will have a problem when you are miles away from the nearest service and the problem will occur when you need to travel. If you have the diagrams you can quickly and easily verify power or air where you need power or air so you can make the slide function. If you have no desire to do the trouble shooting on your own at the very least learn how to depressurize the seal and how to run the slide in manually. It only takes a few minutes to run a slide in or out manually, and if the slide has pins and or an inflatible seal all you have to do is learn on your coach how to retract the pins and deflate the seal and when the slide is in place inflate the seal and engage the pins. This is likely a procedure you can practice at home. The significance of learning the procedure is even if you choose to have someone do it for you, you will know what is involved. Failure to deflate the seal or to enable the pins to engage at the wrong moment will result in serious and expensive damage so it is very important to at least understand the process.

Remember, this is free advice worth every cent you paid for it. By heeding it however, when something does go wrong it turns a serious situation into a minor inconvenience.

Right on Jon !! This for sure blindsided me. I have all hydraulics HWH slideouts but the controls are locked thru the HWN touch pad & park brake switch. He took the touch pad out of the inside panel & connected outside to the slideout control box & slides operated. This could be the alternative operation when miles away from nowhere. Will post the results when repaired.

Found fuse F7 in drivers bay blown & lower press switch not picking up even with proper air pressure. See attached pic`s. Found out slides can be operated from HWH control box by removing slideout switch from inside & temporarily connecting to control box relay board. Bottom line, the slideouts are locked out from operation if the parking break circuit is not made up. Parking break circuit must have this press switch operational to complete it.
