Hello,

Can somebody tell me what is the Stemco part # of the hub on the photo
My front wheels have # 4046, but I can't find any numbers on my tag axle.
Also is it worth it to change the new generations hubs to the older versions like the one on the photo ? Looks like the older is easier to fill the oil if needed.

Alec, save your money. I doubt if the hubs add any convenience because if you can get the oil in the hole the plug was in, you can just as easily get it through the hole that is plugged.

Besides, the only time you need to add oil is if the hub seal is leaking, and in that case the whole thing is coming apart anyway so you will get a new Stemco Seal

The whole set-up, full replacement.

after time the plexiglass will shrink and allow oil to seep thru the edges. There is a glass replacement kit, but it requires removing the hubcap. A new hubcap is usually under 20 bucks, and it's all new. I always replace the entire cap.

That's because Stemco casts their part numbers on the inside of the cap. I'd just change the red plug in the middle and see if that doesn't fix your cap leaking problem.

Alek, my steering and tags are #343-4249. Gasket is #3122. I paid Freightliner in Arizona $177.95 for four in 2009. Ouch! List price was 65.53 each. It's easy to use a couple feet of small plastic tubing to siphon the oil out and check the Stemco number inside yours to be sure.
