Neal and I just finished a 6 night stay at Hearthside Grove. It was a fabulous resort setting. The friendliness of everyone from the Rose family, who owns the park, the camp workers and the owners of the lots was amazing. They have a breakfast for all each Tuesday & Saturday morning. They were more than accommodating to all of our requests. it is set in beautiful surroundings with many trees, water features and well landscaped lots. it has to be one of the premier parks around.
We made a day trip to the wineries on the peninsula in Traverse City. Had a wonderful " Tapas Tour" at The Chateau Chantal which is about 70 miles south of Petoskey. They were kind enough to tell us of the perfect daycare across from the street from the resort for our Goldens-- Wags & Purrs. We also took the ferry to Mackinaw Island.
It is the best facility we have encountered including the beautiful ones in Indio. I believe this is due to some expert planning as well as having the resort developers/owners living on the property. The attention to detail is superb! The consistency of each lot with their bungalows on them adds to the charm of the surroundings. It was well worth the 1200 miles of driving each way.
Everyone should add northern Michigan to their trip list if you haven't been there. You will not be disappointed! We wish we could have stayed longer. Our time constraints would not allow us to explore several other areas of interest.
