Tank Monitoring

Has anyone tried the SeeLeval gauges to update your tank monitoring?

It appears to be a really easy way to get a digital read out on all tanks. Instead of single LED giving you an approximate level in 25% steps you end up with a digital read out in percent of full covering all tanks.

My last coach was a Tiffin Allegro Bus and the factory system was next to having nothing. I installed the 709 See Level system with monitors, one inside the coach and a second one in the wet bay. The install was fairly easy and the system worked flawlessly for two years and then I sold the coach. Depending on what system my next coach will have, if it is inferior to the SeeLevel system, I will be installing one in it also. It's a good system and a good price. Good luck... Ron

John , I am in the same boat as Ron, my current system (knock on wood) is functioning pretty good , although I question the precision of the House/Chassis batteries, this said, if replacement becomes necy I will go for this also. Thanks on the disclosure

Thanks for the feedback on the monitoring panel. I had more or less already decided to go with the model 709 and just wanted to know if anyone has had problems.

I like to dry camp and the vague levels on tank status prevented me from staying a little longer. The LED system for battery voltage in half a volt steps seemed to flicker between voltages. The digital battery voltage in 0.1 volt steps will be a great improvement. I also plan to add a second monitor panel in the plumbing bay.

I will be taking some photos and post for anyone else considering this upgrade.

On my first coach the tank level sensor consisted of 4 internal "probes". It wasn't the best system in the world. My solution was simple. I created a "sight glass" for visually seeing the water holding tank level. I Teed off the tank drain, ran clear tubing up to a plugged opening in the top of the tank and had a 100% accurate level depiction with no moving parts or electrical connections.

I do like the Headhunter system we have, but apparently some have had problems with it. Until it pukes I have no plans to change it.

Andre, Please expand on the "pretty good" part. Were you able to use the existing wiring from the tanks to the front monitor panel? Thanks

I was able to use the existing wires. That part was easy. But getting the sensor strips positioned so that you can read the whole tank from top to bottom is not easily done. Especially the black tank. Look at my #2 picture in the thread I referneced above. There is to much stuff in the way to get the sensor strips all the way to the bottom of the tank. So my black tank sensors start just above the drain outlet. I got the gray tank sensors just about perfect and they work real well. But on my fresh water tank, I was not so lucky. I think I have just a little to much space between the 2 sendors. See piture #4. So, when my tank level get to that point I get weird readings. If the level is above 52% or below 48% it reads perfect. I messed up putting the top sensor on, and you can not reposition them. All that said I have much better readings of tank levels then I ever did before. On the panel inside the coach, I lost the water pump switch. The old panel had a water pump switch and the new one did not, a minor issue. Overall I am happy with the results.

I do like the Headhunter system we have, but apparently some have had problems with it. Until it pukes I have no plans to change it.

Ditto, our Headhunter reads in 10% increments and works well. The black tank one plugged up once, but all I had to do was push the manual button in the bay a couple of times to put pressure in the line and it blew out whatever was in there. I have the three tank version and the fresh water is also hooked up to the Headhunter pump so if the fresh tank gets too low, it turns off the pump so it won't get damaged.
